About The Opportunity

We're excited to offer multiple casual opportunities for passionate Food Services Assistants to join our Fronditha Care team in Newcastle. In this hands‐on role, you'll help prepare and serve nutritious, well‐presented meals that celebrate our residents' cultural traditions and create a warm, homelike dining experience every day.

More than 1000 people choose to work at Fronditha Care, caring for elders across our 5 residential facilities in Melbourne and Newcastle, in their homes and in the community, across metropolitan Melbourne.

The Day‐to‐day Responsibilities

* Knowledge of Greek cuisine preferable
* Plan, prepare and cook meals for care recipients in Fronditha Care facilities
* Food preparation: Cutting, chopping, slicing etc.
* Loading and pushing food trolleys
* Loading and unloading dishwashers
* Loading and unloading food in and out of commercial ovens
* Transferring large cooking pots from oven to bench and sink.
* Maintain high standards of hygiene and comply with food safety regulations.
* Set and arrange tables and chairs as per procedures.
* Wash dishes, clean workbenches and maintain a tidy kitchen and dining area.
* Report any faulty kitchen equipment and maintain compliance with safety standards.
* Oversee documentation related to food safety, meals records and stock levels.
* Participate in Fronditha Care's continuous improvement processes to enhance service quality.

What Success Looks Like For This Role

* Food handling certificate is essential but not limited to.
* Previous experience with food handling and cleaning.
* Minimum 1 year experience in the Aged Care Sector.
* Proven skills around infection control and safe food handling.
* Proficiency in communication and teamwork.
* Preferred background in aged care or a related field.
* NSW Food Safety Supervisor.
* Cert III in Commercial Cookery but not limited to.
* Need to be able to work weekends and afternoon shifts.

OH&S Responsibility

* To always observe and abide by all OH&S and WorkSafe regulations.
* To report any potential hazards or breaches to Direct Management immediately.
* Take any or all appropriate action that is safe to do so to remove or reduce hazards or risks.
* Report any observed breaches of OH&S policies and/or regulations by other staff members to Senior Management immediately.
