Job Description
Placed.au is looking for a full-time Chef for our client in Geelong, Victoria. This is a dynamic position requiring a strong culinary foundation, effective leadership skills, and a passion for innovative food creation. You will play an integral role in shaping the culinary offerings of the establishment while maintaining consistently high standards of meals served. Job description:
* Prepare ingredients and execute cooking techniques to create high-quality dishes, following established recipes and standards.
* Collaborate closely with the head chef to plan and execute menus that align with the restaurant's concept and vision.
* Ensure food preparation, cooking, and plating are performed to the highest standard.
* Ensure the quality, taste, and presentation of all dishes meet the establishment's standards.
* Conduct regular taste tests and evaluations to maintain consistency of meals prepared.
* Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and consistent culinary excellence.
* Manage ingredient inventory, monitor stock levels and place orders to maintain adequate supplies.
* Minimise waste and optimise ingredient usage to improve kitchen efficiency.
* Enforce strict adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
* Work collaboratively with fellow chefs and kitchen staff to coordinate and expedite orders efficiently.
* Assist in recruiting and onboarding junior staff when necessary.
* Provide guidance, training and support to junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Qualifications/Attributes:
* Must hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher, or at least three (3) years of relevant work experience in lieu of the formal qualification.
* Must have at least one (1) year of relevant work experience as a Chef.
* Creative flair and passion for experimenting with flavours, techniques and presentations.
* Extensive knowledge of ingredients, techniques and equipment used in cooking.
* Ability to excel in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen and front of house staff.
Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000 p.a. excluding superannuation.
