The role
At MidCoast Council, we have an impressive range of machinery, tools and equipment you'll be working with. You'll be trained by highly skilled tradespeople who’ll support you every step of the way – teaching you real-world skills that set you up for a successful career.
What will you be doing day to day?
- Use tools to cut, grind, weld and shape metal
- Help repair and maintain machinery and equipment
- Work on real projects that help keep our community running smoothly
- Learn how to read plans and work safely in a workshop
- Build your skills and knowledge every day – both on the job and through formal study
Over four years, you’ll complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, gaining a nationally recognised qualification while getting paid to learn.
We’re Looking For Someone Who
- Enjoys practical, hands-on work
- Has a strong interest in how things are made or repaired
- Holds a Manual Drivers licence
- Is motivated to learn and build a long-term career
- Has shown commitment and effort in school or other areas of life
Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment basic skills assessment and medical check (medical assessment will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component)
Salary: The salary for this traineeship ranges from approximately $31,288 to $53,196 p.a. in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award. Your salary will be determined based on your age, qualifications, and any previous work experience. Superannuation (12%) is additional.
Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the Taree Depot located on Arkwright Crescent, Taree.
Tenure: Full-time 38 hours per week over a 4-year period.
