Are you detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about creating safer futures for women and children impacted by family and domestic violence and abuse (FDVA)?

Join us in supporting a program that provides safe, secure accommodation and holistic support for women and children escaping violence.

The Program:

Communicare Tuart House is a regional accommodation and support service for women and their children who are homeless, or are at imminent risk of homelessness, as a result of family and domestic violence. It is a culturally safe place for women and their children to be empowered and remain safe while rebuilding their lives.

The Role:

The Child Youth Advocate plays a vital role in supporting the safety, development, and wellbeing of children and young people residing in refuge accommodation with their mothers/care givers. This position ensures children's voices are heard, their rights are upheld, and their individual needs are met through proactive advocacy, case management, and coordinated support.

In this role you will:

* Conduct client assessments and develop tailored case plans.
* Provide crisis support, safety planning, advocacy, and referrals.
* Deliver age-appropriate programs and activities to build resilience.
* Support therapeutic aspects of the program and model positive behaviours.
* Engage with young people in distress and respond to crisis situations.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with legislation.
* Collaborate with mothers/caregivers to strengthen family relationships.

This role is offered on a permanent part time basis working 45.6 hours a fortnight. The role will be based at our Busselton refuge home, with regular travel required.

The service operates 24/7, and working patterns may include occasional evening, sleep shifts, and weekend working. Rosters are based on business needs and subject to change. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Specific shift times will be discussed during the interview process.

About You

You are a compassionate and proactive professional who is committed to creating safer futures for women and children impacted by family and domestic violence. You thrive in dynamic environments and can respond calmly and effectively in crisis situations. Your approach is child-centered and trauma-informed, ensuring that every interaction promotes dignity, safety, and empowerment. You build trust easily, communicate with clarity, and work collaboratively with families and colleagues to achieve positive outcomes. In addition you will have:

* Minimum qualification in Certificate IV in Child/Youth Work, or related field.
* Skilled in crisis response, risk assessment, safety planning, and advocacy for clients with complex needs.
* Understanding of case management principles in residential programs.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to engage sensitively and effectively with children and young people of diverse ages and backgrounds.
* Advanced knowledge of Family and Domestic Violence issues as they pertain to women and children who have been impacted by violence or abuse within intimate relationships or the family.
* Awareness and understanding of diversity, gender, and social inclusion, with particular respect for Aboriginal culture and communities (desirable).
* Experience working with children impacted by family and domestic violence (desirable).
* Valid Driver's Licence, Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance.
