Your next career opportunity
As an Academic Writer with the Darak team within the Australian Stroke Alliance (ASA), you'll be at the forefront of transforming stroke care for Indigenous Australians. Working closely with Indigenous co-leads and multidisciplinary researchers, you'll contribute to implementing and evaluating the Culturally Adaptive Governance Framework (CAGF). This role offers you the chance to shape national health policy, advance ethical research practices, and make a lasting impact on Indigenous health outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Write Academic Papers: Produce high-quality research articles and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
* Develop Grant Proposals: Craft compelling funding proposals aligned with Indigenous health research priorities.
* Conduct Literature Reviews: Synthesize academic research to support writing projects and inform CAGF implementation.
* Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with researchers, stakeholders, and Indigenous leaders to ensure authentic representation.
* Evaluate Impact : Document a framework for assessing CAGF effectiveness within the ASA.
* Promote Best Practices: Contribute to establishing the Darak CAGF as a replicable model for Indigenous health research.

You may be a great fit if:
You hold a Masters degree or higher in a relevant discipline (PhD preferred), with a strong track record in publishing academic papers and solid understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture, and contemporary issues in health research
You also have:

* A proven track record in academic writing and successful grant applications.
* Demonstrate exceptional writing, editing, and research synthesis skills.
* Possess experience in public health, Indigenous health research, or medical research projects.
* Show knowledge and sensitivity to Indigenous cultures and commitment to culturally safe practices.
* Have strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Demonstrate proficiency with academic writing tools and citation styles.
* Show ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
