Are you looking for a rewarding career opportunity as a Certified Peer Advocate? If that is you, then look no further Catholic Charities has several Certified Peer Advocate positions available throughout Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster

The full-time Certified Peer Advocate, reporting to the Director of Behavioral Health/Clinical Director in the SOR Program, provides outreach, advocacy, mentoring, and recovery support services to those seeking or sustaining recovery. The primary responsibility is visiting clients in the community/on-site to provide support and overdose prevention training and offer ongoing support and linkage to the care of clients and their families.

HOURLY RATE: $20.00/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The full-time Certified Peer Advocates will be responsible for the following activities, including but not limited to:

1. Using her/his lived experience with substance use to provide support to clients in the SOR Program, introduce the program to potential clients, and obtain consents for follow-up services.
2. Conduct overdose prevention education with clients, their families, and their social networks, including naloxone distribution.
3. Provide clients with support and assist with linkage to care and community resources. Accompany clients to appointments as required.
4. Provide information on and offer appropriate referral options to harm reduction programs, medication-assisted treatment, and other services as requested.
5. Coordinate and monitor the implementation of the program requirements and referrals to community services.
6. Provide technical assistance and training on program implementation, policies and procedures as needed.
7. Build relationships and collaborate with community partners on the continued integration of the SOR Program.
8. Maintain detailed records of client contacts and follow-up activities. Collect and report program data to evaluate program performance as required.
9. Facilitate groups using evidence-based models (i.e., Seeking Safety, Holistic Health Recovery Program).
10. Any other required tasks.

Working conditions and physical demands:

Require travel and the ability to walk, stand, and sit for periods of over 1 hour at times. The position includes street outreach, which may encounter unpredictable client systems. The position requires travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or experience:

- GED or HS diploma required
- First-hand lived experience using substances and is eager to draw from their own personal history in order to provide support through risk reduction counseling, naloxone training, and linkage to care. The successful candidate will have familiarity and openness to a range of drug treatment modalities, the principles of harm reduction, and have a demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse populations, along with strong communication and organizational skills.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies:

- Current CRPA Certification required
- Valid NYS Driver's License
- Reliable transportation
- Computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and personal recovery skills and boundaries
