About the Role:
An experienced Lead API Developer is sought to spearhead the cloud modernisation of the Works Management System into a scalable, cloud-native platform. This technical leadership role combines hands-on development expertise with team management responsibilities, driving architectural decisions and mentoring a development team.
The successful candidate will lead backend development using C# with .NET 8/.NET Core, building and maintaining RESTful APIs that interface with SQL Server backends while establishing development patterns and best practices across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end development of enterprise-grade web services using modern .NET 8 frameworks and microservices architecture
- Partner with enterprise architects to establish technical blueprints, API standards, and system integration approaches
- Guide and develop a cross-functional development team while overseeing code quality, resource allocation, and project milestones
- Implement Microsoft Azure cloud services integration including messaging systems, configuration management, security vaults, and storage solutions
- Establish automated deployment frameworks using infrastructure-as-code principles for seamless multi-setting releases
- Engineer high-throughput, low-latency web services leveraging advanced programming techniques, async patterns, and distributed caching
- Deploy and configure API gateways within Azure cloud infrastructure with comprehensive exposure management
- Implement comprehensive monitoring, telemetry, and performance analytics using Azure observability tools
- Maintain adherence to enterprise governance frameworks while facilitating effective cross-team collaboration
- Champion continuous delivery practices and cultivate technical excellence across development teams
Skills and Experience:
- 7+ years building enterprise web services with C# and .NET ecosystem, including recent .NET 8 exposure
- Track record leading technical teams, establishing development standards, and driving quality assurance practices
- Expert knowledge of web API design standards, authentication protocols (OAuth2, JWT), API versioning, and technical documentation
- Extensive Microsoft Azure experience across compute, integration, security, and storage services
- Advanced SQL Server capabilities including complex query development, performance tuning, and database optimization
- Proven delivery of enterprise-scale, high-performance web services with sophisticated caching implementations
- Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into actionable technical solutions and delivery plans
- Must hold Australian Citizenship
