Position Description: Team Leader – Disability Services (Supported Independent Living – SIL House)

Position Overview
The Team Leader for our Supported Independent Living (SIL) house in Traralgon is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the SIL residence, leading a team of Disability Support Workers, and ensuring high-quality, person-centred support is provided to NDIS participants living independently with assistance. This role focuses on promoting participant choice, control, dignity, and independence while maintaining compliance with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Framework, organisational policies, and relevant legislation. The Team Leader fosters a safe, respectful, and home-like environment where residents feel empowered to achieve their goals. The position requires strong leadership, diligence, and a strong sense of responsibility towards vulnerable people, with a commitment to continuous improvement and positive outcomes for participants.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide supervision and performance support to a team of Disability Support Workers within the SIL house.
* Develop, implement, and monitor individual support plans, behaviour support plans, and daily living activities in line with each participant's NDIS goals, preferences, and funded supports.
* Oversee the daily operations of the SIL house, ensuring adequate shift handovers, household management, and maintenance of a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment.
* Ensure compliance with NDIS requirements, including accurate documentation, incident reporting, progress notes.
* Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with participants, their families, guardians, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders.
* Respond to incidents, provide crisis support, and implement risk management strategies as needed (including familiarity with restrictive practices guidelines if applicable).
* Assist participants with daily living tasks, community access, skill-building, and meaningful activities to promote independence.
* Monthly Key Worker Reporting
* Maintain administrative records service agreements, ensuring all documentation is timely and accurate.
* Act as a team player and be a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and a strong sense of accountability.
Essential Selection Criteria
* Qualifications — Certificate IV in Disability, Mental Health, Community Services, or equivalent (higher qualifications desirable).
* Experience — Demonstrated experience in the disability sector, preferably in Supported Independent Living (SIL), residential services, or NDIS-funded environments; prior team leadership or supervisory experience highly regarded.
* Availability — Must be available and willing to work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday shifts 9am – 5pm.
* Personal Attributes — Diligent and highly organised with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and commitment to participant rights, dignity, and safety; resilient, empathetic, and able to work independently while leading others.
* Skills — Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team; strong understanding of person-centred practice.
* Other Requirements —
* Current Victorian driver's licence and access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle.
* Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
* Working with Children Check (Victoria).
* Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
* Knowledge of NDIS framework, including SIL funding, Quality and Safeguards Commission standards, and relevant legislation.
Desirable
* Experience working in regional Victoria (e.g., Gippsland/Traralgon area).
* Knowledge of restrictive practices and positive behaviour support.
* Experience working in a leadership role within NDIS environment.
