Position Purpose
The primary purpose of the casual Security Officer is to ensure the safety and security of the University of Wollongong (UOW) campus, its personnel, and visitors. This role involves responding promptly to incidents, conducting foot and vehicle patrols, utilizing electronic security systems, and providing excellent customer service. The Security Officer plays a critical role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment by implementing effective security measures, recording and reporting incidents, and supporting the university's commitment to safety and inclusivity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct incident investigations in a timely manner and ensure that Security Incident Reports are completed and submitted.
2. Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the implementation of emergency procedures.
3. Promote and encourage a team approach.
4. Provide a customer service approach and maintain a fair, courteous, and respectful manner in dealing with clients and customers.
5. Provide high-quality security services at client locations.
6. Provide security escorts as required.
7. Report and record security breaches and incidents.
8. Respond promptly to incidents.
9. Take a problem-solving approach to conflict situations and recognize the need to escalate situations to the manager/supervisor for attention as appropriate.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table:
* A current Security Licence and Cert II in Security Operations.
* First Aid Certificate.
* Full working rights in Australia.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Flexibility, including availability on days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
