Job Summary
We are seeking an exceptional leader to fill the role of Area Manager, responsible for overseeing the Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) Area Offices and providing strategic support to Rural Fire Brigades and volunteers.
This is a key leadership position that requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as well as a proven commitment to maintaining bushfire competencies and operating in a regional team environment.
* Lead the Area team in executing Regional strategic and operational plans, ensuring seamless and responsive support to volunteers and stakeholders.
* Manage organisational change programs through regular consultation and discussion with staff, volunteers, the community, and other stakeholders.
* Undertake the role of Chief Fire Warden for the Area, working closely with the Manager Bushfire Mitigation to support the planning and execution of prescribed burns.
* Work closely with the Regional Duty Manager to maintain operational awareness and oversight for the Area.
* Manage human and physical resources to ensure operational capacity and capability within the Area, supporting asset management by authorising planned and unplanned maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Area team in executing Regional strategic and operational plans, undertaking organisational change programs, and maintaining operational awareness and oversight for the Area.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams, managing resources, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve outcomes. They will also have a strong understanding of bushfire management and emergency response, as well as experience working in a regional team environment.
This is a day work position, yet may require flexible hours of work to meet functional demands, including working at night on weekends as part of the role.
