Carbal's mission is to improve health outcomes through culturally appropriate, community-driven healthcare services.
About the Role
We are seeking a professional, friendly, and motivated Medical Receptionist to join our Toowoomba Health Care Clinic. In this vital front-line role, you will work alongside a supportive team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our reception area and provide outstanding service to our clients.
You will play a key role in delivering culturally safe and respectful care, while demonstrating empathy, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times. Experience with the medical software program Best Practice and a strong understanding of Medicare item numbers—particularly those relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health—will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
Be the welcoming first point of contact for clients and visitors.
Provide high-quality administrative and reception support to the clinic team.
Answer incoming calls, manage bookings, and respond to email enquiries.
Maintain appointment calendars and coordinate schedules.
Enter client data accurately and assist with reporting as needed.
Manage office supplies and ensure the reception area is well organised.
Assist in maintaining respectful, meaningful community relationships.
Promote and support a culturally safe and inclusive environment.
Previous experience in a medical receptionist or administrative role.
Proficiency in Best Practice or similar medical software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a caring and respectful approach.
Strong multitasking ability and capacity to remain calm under pressure.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
High level of attention to detail and organisational skills.
Sound computer literacy.
Open C Class driver's licence (valid in Queensland).
Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Check and Blue Card.
Certificate III or higher in Business Administration or Medical Reception.
Experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and health challenges.
Prior experience delivering services to First Nations communities.
Availability for immediate start.
