About The Role

The Quality Team Lead supervises and supports the daily activities of Quality Technicians performing IQC, IPQC, and OQC, ensuring adherence to DroneShield's QMS procedures, inspection protocols, and accurate documentation of inspection outcomes and non-conformances. This role reviews inspection reports, NCRs, and rework dispositions, liaises with Production, Engineering, and Procurement to resolve quality issues, and supports internal audits, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. The Team Lead also mentors and coaches team members to strengthen their competency and quality mindset, while maintaining calibration records, inspection tools, and quality control areas in line with best practices and safety requirements, ensuring consistent, high‐quality output.

Location: The role is based at DroneShield's central Sydney headquarters, with overseas on‐ground presence in Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico, and Dubai, and distributors in over 70 countries worldwide.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

* Provide daily supervision, task prioritization, and hands‐on support to Quality Technicians performing IQC, IPQC and OQC.
* Ensure adherence to DroneShield's QMS procedures and inspection protocols, including timely and accurate documentation of inspection outcomes and non‐conformances.
* Review inspection reports, non‐conformance records (NCRs), and rework dispositions.
* Liaise with Production, Engineering, and Procurement to resolve quality issues and ensure readiness for delivery milestones.
* Support the Quality & Safety Manager in internal audits, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective & preventive actions.
* Mentor and coach team members to strengthen competency and quality mindset.
* Maintain calibration records, inspection tools, and quality control areas in line with best practice and safety requirements.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

* Minimum 3 years' experience as a Quality Technician, Inspector, or in a related role within defence, aerospace, electronics manufacturing, or high‐tech industry.
* Experience supervising or coordinating the work of other technicians or inspectors.
* Strong understanding of ISO 9001 (required).
* Hands‐on experience with mechanical and/or electronic inspection processes, tools, and techniques.
* Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, assembly instructions, and specification sheets.
* Strong documentation skills; experience using ERP and QMS software systems.
* Collaborative and proactive mindset, with the ability to interface confidently across technical and operational teams.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
