In this role, you will play a lead role in photolithography process development, mask layout and device fabrication, and contribute to advancing fabrication workflows for emerging micro/nanoscale devices.You will be responsible for developing, optimising, and maintaining photolithography and wet etching processes and systems, supporting advanced device prototyping, and delivering expert user training.The role includes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, participation in facility R&D initiatives, and hands-on involvement with complex fabrication and characterisation workflows.Key responsibilities will include:Technical Expertise in Photolithography and Device Fabrication:Demonstrated extensive hands-on experience with photolithography systems (e.g. mask aligners, steppers, spin coaters), including process optimisation, multi-layer alignment, resist handling, and troubleshooting. Proven ability to develop and implement reliable photolithographic process flows for microfluidics, MEMS, or semiconductor device applications in a cleanroom environment.Experience in Micro/Nanofabrication and Multistep Process Integration: Strong knowledge of nanofabrication processes including deposition, dry /wet etching, surface preparation, bonding, and device packaging. Ability to design and optimise end-to-end fabrication workflows for prototyping and advanced research applications.Proficiency in Design Tools and Mask Layout: Proficiency in device and mask layout design using CAD/EDA software such as AutoCAD, L-Edit, KLayout, or Mentor Graphics. Experience interpreting device designs and integrating them into compatible lithographic processes.Knowledge of Analytical and Characterisation Tools: Demonstrated experience using metrology and characterisation tools (e.g. optical microscopy, profilometry, ellipsometry, SEM, AFM) to evaluate process outcomes and ensure fabrication quality and reproducibility.Ability to Support Multidisciplinary Research and Provide User Training:Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience supporting academic and industry researchers. Proven ability to deliver technical training, prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs), and provide expert process advice in a collaborative, service-oriented environment.Safety, Maintenance, and Cleanroom Operations: Sound knowledge of WHS practices in cleanroom environments. Demonstrated ability to maintain and troubleshoot fabrication equipment, manage documentation, and contribute to a culture of safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence.About the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF-Qld)ANFF-Qld is a not-for-profit research infrastructure facility established under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). ANFF is a network of eight nodes distributed across Australia, supported by over $200 million in investment in equipment, infrastructure, and personnel.The Queensland Node (ANFF-Qld) is a state-of-the-art fabrication facility specialising in microfluidics, organic electronics and optoelectronics, biomaterials, novel semiconductor materials, and characterisation. Its facilities are located within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and the Centre for Organic Photonics & Electronics (COPE) at The University of Queensland, as well as the Queensland Microtechnology Facility (QMF) at Griffith University.
