This is a unique two‑year opportunity to join the Infrastructure, Planning and Engineering Branch, this Branch is responsible for asset and growth strategy, portfolio, program and project development and planning, technical engineering advice and design management services to ensure the Icon Water's assets are safe, sustainable and fit for purpose in the long term. This role has primary responsibility for planning and developing projects and initiatives that support long term strategies and plans for Icon Water's water and wastewater assets. The position plays a key role in supporting delivery of Icon Water's Integrated Water Management Program (IWMP), which will enable key strategic decisions to be made on the future of Canberra's water and wastewater services, and ensure future investment decisions consider the whole water cycle.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
* Support the development and implementation of long term asset plans and strategies to ensure infrastructure reliability, efficiency and sustainability across Icon Water's water and wastewater asset base. This includes:
o Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all Icon Water stakeholders.
o Leading strategic planning investigations and tasks, relevant to appropriate skills and experience. This may include technical studies and investigations, policy initiatives, feasibility assessments and concept designs, workshops and data collection and analysis.
o Provide input into strategic planning reports and advice such as option development and analysis, technical evaluation, cost and time estimates and risk management.
o Managing and reporting project cost, schedules, risks and issues.
o Engaging internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to complete deliverables and engaging and overseeing external advisors, consultants and experts to complete deliverables as required
o Presenting and influencing at senior levels within and outside of the Icon Water organisation.
* Support to the delivery of long-term planning and decision making initiatives through the implementation of the Integrated Water Management Program (IWMP). This includes:
o Undertaking scenario planning analysis by considering factors such as growth, climate, demand, service levels and asset health.
o Contributing to development, improvement, dissemination and ongoing management of Icon Water's Strategic Asset Management Plan, Asset Management System, including contributing to the development of asset objectives and decision support frameworks.
o Contributing to the preparation of long-term asset investment plans, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and available asset information.
* Providing sound asset and strategic advice and recommendations to stakeholders.
Who we are looking for: We are looking for suitable candidates who hold Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as in engineering or water resource management. You will also require:
* Experience in strategic asset planning and/or project/program management in the water industry.
* Knowledge of Water Resources Act 2007, Environmental Protection Act 1997 and relevant government policies are desirable.
* Knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements in a water utility and experience in interpreting technical regulations, codes and standards
* Experience in the planning, operating, design of water and sewerage systems.
* Experience in stakeholder engagement.
* Experience in water and sewerage system performance assessment, specifically related to network capacity, reliability and efficiencies.
