Position Summary
MiTek are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Melbourne, Australia. Working within the industrial automation business area, you will be responsible for design, integration and commissioning of plant equipment and machinery. Your ability to build positive relationships founded on trust will assist you in providing expert advice to clients around their engineering and automation project requirements.
Minimum Qualification & Experience
Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics/Electrical)
5 years prior experience working in a manufacturing environment (essential).
Competencies
* Strong experience with AutoCAD and familiarity with PLC/RTU wiring diagrams and network interface.
* Experienced using electrical engineering design packages such as AutoCAD electrical.
* Solid understanding of AS/NZS Wiring Rules and Electrical Regulations.
* Understand electrical wiring of Gearboxes, VFD's, Conveyors
* Switchboard / Control Panel design and manufacturing experience to AS/NZ 61439 will be an advantage.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex engineering problems.
* Exposure to Materials handling related design projects, in both the Greenfields and Brownfields space.
* Technical aptitude, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to think outside the box.
* Excellent organisational, communication, teamwork and time management skills
Key Responsibilities
* Reading and interpreting site audit photos, technical drawings, schematics, termination wiring and scope of works to produce detailed design drawings in accordance with client standards.
* Diagnosing faults with servos drives, VSDs, sensors, cabling, mechanical systems such as bearings, gearboxes, belts, motors, conveyors, etc.
* Drafting of electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
* Undertake schematic, layout, derating, and pre-production review.
* Design of power distribution including Max Demand calculations, protection sizing, load studies, fault current calculations, coordination studies, cable sizing, cable schedules and arc flash analysis.
* Liaise with manufacturers if required for development of equipment schedules for sites.
* Development of detailed engineering plans for electrical installation changes required on site.
* Effort estimation for design changes to products and project specific requirement
* Co-ordination with Vendor Management
* Issuance of schematics and BOMs for project deliverables.
* Demonstrated ability to produce manual design calculations and engineering documentation to a professional standard.
* Developing drawing design standards for consistency and accuracy.
* Responsible for the on-time delivery of the allocated work schedules.
* Ensure the safety of designs through application of specialist expertise, standards, reviews, risk assessments and risk management.
* Work within a team to deliver results within allocated time, budget, and quality constraints.
* Familiarisation with client design standards and ability to translate requirements into a workable design solution.
* Perform other tasks as deemed necessary by management staff.
