We are a specialist provision working with wonderful clients aged 18-65 who have care and support needs arising from their mental health. We support individuals and their family with their goals and needs using a strength based approach, helping them to become more independent and importantly participate in the community in which they live. Every day is different with a variety of tasks from reassuringly holding someone's hand while they share their troubles, to undertaking Care Act and Mental Capacity Act assessments to preparing reports and attending court. You may be working collaboratively with our health colleagues and supporting carers and family members. You will work methodically and be available to support your team and our residents across the Wakefield district.

Our client group means it may sometimes take a little while to build rapport and trust; however, it is always worth the wait to brighten someone's day or see the look of relief on their face, and their family's faces when we have done another amazing job!

What will be expected from me?

You will be responsible for a complex but manageable caseload, assist the Team Manager in providing support to other members of the team, supervising student social workers and other employees as required. This position is full-time, supporting individuals across the Wakefield District. Your role will involve assessments, support planning, and service commissioning. As a qualified Social Worker, you'll empower individuals to live independently, requiring expertise in mental health, strong communication, and knowledge of relevant legislation.

What I might be doing?

* You will manage a complex workload in accordance with the directorate and other agency policies and procedures, applying a multi-discipline approach.
* Your responsibilities will include completing Care Act assessments, reviews and person centred care plans, capacity assessments and Best Interest decisions.
* You will undertake planned interventions, as required, across a range of statutory casework.
* You will promote and develop collaborative working with allied health and social care professionals.
* You will prepare a range of reports on clients, as appropriate, in accordance with legislation policies and procedures.

Essential Requirements:

* Degree in Social Work, or relevant Social Work qualifications recognised by the Central Council for Education & Training in Social Work/Registration with SWE.
* Evidence of successful completion of post qualifying award or training.
* Evidence of maintaining skill and knowledge base in professional field through post qualifying training or other opportunities.
* Ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships with service users, carers, and groups.
* Excellent communication and engagement skills with a commitment to improving service delivery.
* Experience in the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983 is essential.
