Grounds Maintenance Specialist
The Department of Education is seeking a skilled and experienced Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our team. In this key role, you will be responsible for maintaining the school grounds in a safe and tidy condition, ensuring a conducive external learning environment for students and staff.
About the Role
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026. The successful applicant will oversee the upkeep of turf areas, garden beds, shrubs, trees, and various soft landscapes. They will also maintain hard landscaping features such as courts and paving, mark sports areas, and conduct minor repairs in line with departmental policies.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain the school grounds in a safe and tidy condition

* Keep gardening facilities, equipment, tools, and machinery clean, serviceable, and report faults promptly
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
* A valid Working With Children Check
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
* Experience in grounds maintenance and/or horticulture
* Ability to work safely and efficiently in a variety of weather conditions
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures
