Ability to work independently, show initiative, prioritise tasks and provide advice and support to staff in maintenance and grounds matters. Role Moe (South Street) Primary School requires a multi-skilled individual who can attend to a range of maintenance and some grounds/gardening tasks across our school. The maintenance and improvement of our infrastructure is a priority and we require a dedicated, hard working individual to join our team. Skills/Qualifications in one or more trades is highly desirable, but not essential. The attendance for this Groundskeeper / Maintenance Person role requires the successful applicant to:
* work from 7:00am - 3:30pm two (2) days per week **Although this can be negotiated
* be available to work during some term holidays. In such cases, the successful applicant will be paid extra via an ad hoc leave purchase allowance.
Responsibilities The successful applicant will assist with daily tasks, including but not limited to: Grounds
* Maintaining all grass areas including mowing (all lawn except the oval), trimming and edging.¿
* Revegetating/replanting lawn areas.¿
* Controlling weeds including a spraying program.¿
* Maintaining all existing garden beds including edging, weeding, pruning, planting, mulching and watering.
* Establishing new garden beds as directed and performing minor landscaping of the grounds
* Checking external student seating and play equipment to ensure they are sound¿
* Clearing drains, spouting, gutters and downpipes as required
* Locking and unlocking of the school buildings and gates as required¿
* Pressure cleaning building and paved areas as required
* Weekly inspections of grounds for defects, trip hazards and graffiti
* Maintaining all grounds equipment in a satisfactory, safe and workable condition.
* Clearing grounds of litter and empty yard rubbish bins as required¿
Maintenance¿
* Performing minor repairs as directed for example;¿
o minor electrical (light globe replacement)
o minor plastering and / or painting tasks
o repairing of furniture and equipment e.g. table tops, lockers.
* Identifying and reporting the need for repairs / replacement¿
* Assisting with set up/pack up of functions eg: BBQs, sports days, information evenings
* Moving of furniture, deliveries and equipment as required¿

Location Profile We are currently looking for a Groundskeeper/Handyman to help enhance the school environment. The role would include a wide range of general handman tasks, which may include small building projects (garden edges, building seating around playgrounds etc.), painting, repairs and maintenance, retrieving balls from roofs and gardening. Moe (South Street) Primary School is centrally located in the township of Moe, in the Latrobe Valley, Gippsland, Victoria. The school has a strong and proud reputation within the community and has a current enrolment of approximately 220 students. Our partnership with the Moe Early Learning Centre, located adjacent to our school, provides excellent ongoing services for families from birth through to high school.
