General Practitioner - Indigenous Health Specialist
This is a unique opportunity to serve as the primary General Practitioner at a new medical practice in Bowen, Queensland. The practice will be owned by the Aboriginal Medical Service and will focus on preventative health care and management of chronic illnesses prevalent among the Indigenous population.
* No on-call responsibilities.
* The position involves working hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8:00am – 5:00pm (lunch break 12:30pm – 1:30pm); Thursday, Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm (lunch break 12:00pm – 1:00pm).
* Proficiency in Medical Director and Pracsoft software would be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conducting Health Checks for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander patients, 4-year-old children, adults aged 45-49, and individuals over 75 years old.
* Creating Care Plans tailored to individual patient needs.
* Performing Cervical Smears and referring patients to the local hospital's Women's Clinic if necessary.
* OCCASIONAL nursing home visits during regular working hours.
* Home visits for established patients will be at the discretion of the GP.

* Experience in Chronic Disease Management (CDM) and collaborating with health workers is advantageous and encouraged.
