Transport for NSW's Asset Management Branch (AMB) is responsible for the governance and frameworks that guide the design, safety, integrity, construction and commissioning of transport assets across NSW. Our teams work closely with industry and engineering organisations to ensure that the supply chain delivers safe and fit-for-purpose assets across our diverse and evolving network.

**About the team**

The Cudal testing facility was established to conduct testing and evaluation on emerging technology of Safety Assist features in cars such as autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning and lane keep assist functions in accordance with international and national protocols. Utilising robots capable of driving cars, articulated pedestrian targets and pilotable self propelled car target (aka. GST - Guided Soft Target, or GVT - Global Vehicle Target), the Cudal test facility is the only one of its kind in Australia and is at the forefront of autonomous testing in Australia.

**The Opportunity**

Right now, we have an opportunity for a **Project officer - Future Mobility Testing and Research** to perform project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) testing, research and development of future mobility technologies, vehicle safety innovation and technology development and TfNSW Road Safety research programs.

**What you will be involved in**
- Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology
- Undertake research and analysis, identifying trends and preparing project briefs, to support informed decision-making and planning. Writing research papers and keeping abreast with the latest developments and best practices in the domain
- Prepare complex correspondence, briefing notes and reports in relation to specific projects, initiatives and issues ensuring that submissions are accurate, timely and have appropriate signoffs

**This small, specialist team are inclusive and welcoming and will provide you with a flexible workplace to support genuine work-life balance. The role is based in Cudal (Central Western NSW), the infrastructure is located in Cudal and there is a requirement to be on site.**

**About you**

We're flexible on your background. Ideally, you have tertiary qualifications or keen interest in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Aviation, Mechanical or related), with a genuine passion for robotics and automation. You will also have knowledge and experience with communication systems (GPS, network, and radio), Digital connectivity, Connected and Autonomous technologies

You are comfortable building and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders and having transparent, sometimes delicate and sensitive discussions on project requirements and outcomes.

You are curious. You have a demonstrated ability and desire to problem solve, investigate, seek solutions and think laterally when approaching new and unfamiliar technology. This is essential, as you will be required to ensure equipment remains operational during test programs. We are looking for an autonomous operator who has effective research and report writing skills alongwith the ability to think out of the box. Any experience in autonomous vehicles, sensors or robotics would be highly regarded.
