This position is based in Armidale, working within the multidisciplinary Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS) team. Beyond enjoying Armidale’s rich heritage architecture and stunning national parks, you will work alongside Nurses, Psychologists, Counsellors, Social Workers, and Medical Officers to deliver high-quality assessments and counselling to individuals accessing our services.

As a Level 3 DACS Counsellor, you will:
- Provide professional, evidence-based counselling and support for people seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use
- Apply trauma-informed, person-centred, and respectful care tailored to each individual’s needs
- Use holistic, comprehensive care planning to address the physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person’s journey
- Conduct clinical assessments, identify risk factors, and deliver individualised therapeutic interventions
- Undertake evaluations and prepare service reports to ensure high-quality, effective, and efficient service delivery

Selection Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate the following:
- A degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Nursing, or an equivalent qualification that meets eligibility or membership requirements for the relevant professional association, including AHPRA registration where applicable
- Eligibility to drive in NSW and a willingness to travel for work, including long-distance driving
- Advanced skills in alcohol and drug counselling, including assessment, care planning, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based models of care, and case management
- Ability to independently problem-solve and maintain professional boundaries when working with complex situations within a multidisciplinary team
Strong awareness of cultural considerations and their influence on service delivery, with a commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice
