About the Role
We are currently seeking applicants for aTeacher(Manual Arts or Construction background) orVET Trainer – Constructionposition.
This is a unique opportunity to work alongside Blue Dog Training, our external provider for Certificate I & II construction courses, and deliver hands-on learning experiences to disengaged youth in a supportive environment.
The teaching position being offered is a full-time role.
VET Trainer Work Options:
4-day term-time only (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday)
5-day term-time only
Full-time (by discussion).
If full-time, holiday periods will include maintenance and building/construction projects at BYLC.
Industry-experienced professional willing to obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE).
A qualified VET trainer with industry experience.
A registered teacher trained in Manual Arts or Furnishings who is willing to obtain VET qualifications.
Salary ranges:
Registered Teacher (AUD 76,*********,000)
VET Trainer with industry experience and Cert IV TAE (AUD 72,458 if full-time)
Industry-experienced professional with no Cert IV TAE (by negotiation)
About Us
The Burnett Youth Learning Centre is a registered Special Assistance School (SAS), affiliated with Independent Schools of Queensland, situated on a 28-hectare farm just south of Bundaberg, Queensland.
We are a Christian response to a local need, supporting young people who have disengaged or are at risk of disengaging from mainstream education.
Our goal is to provide an alternative education setting that values each student's unique potential and prepares them for economic independence and adulthood.
What We're Looking For
Industry experience in construction (essential).
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or willingness to obtain it.
Ability to engage and support disengaged youth.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
A collaborative mindset and commitment to Christian values.

Qualifications
Industry experience in construction.
Certificate IV TAE (or willingness to obtain).
Teaching registration (if applying as a teacher).
Experience working with disengaged youth (preferred).
