Job Description:

As a Team Leader in the Youth Justice department, you will be responsible for providing strong leadership to a team of staff who promote the personal development of young people who offend and contribute to the diversion and rehabilitation of the young person and the reduction of crime in the community.


You will plan and have oversight of service delivery, along with supervising case managers in the day-to-day delivery of services to clients. You will also be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring client service plans and short and long-term intervention strategies.



Required Skills and Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:



* Providing authoritative advice and support to Youth Justice workers in preparing reports and undertaking assessments

* Ensuring that case managers implement all aspects of case practice responsibilities

* Leading and mentoring a team of staff to promote the personal development of young people who offend

* Contributing to the diversion and rehabilitation of young people and the reduction of crime in the community

* Supervising and providing leadership to the team, including planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring client service plans and short and long-term intervention strategies



Requirements:



* A strong understanding of the youth justice system and the Children, Youth and Families Act

* An advanced understanding of the principles of case management and casework

* Demonstrated leadership/mentoring skills and experience

* Excellent stakeholder management skills

* The ability to effectively influence and negotiate

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills

* A Bachelor of Social Work or Advanced Diploma in Community Services Work is highly desirable

* Other tertiary qualifications at Advanced Diploma or above will be considered if they include units of study in case management/casework practice and have had supervised practical work placements
