About the Role:
This role will involve developing innovative AI solutions to tackle some of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. You will be working within the Environmental Informatics Hub, leading research into sequential decision-making under uncertainty, such as reinforcement learning and adaptive management, with a focus on biodiversity conservation.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Developing and implementing AI solutions to tackle complex environmental challenges;
* Leveraging expertise in sequential decision-making approaches, including Markov Decision Processes, reinforcement learning, deep learning, or adaptive management;
* Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-impact research initiatives;
* Contributing to high-impact publications and presenting research findings at conferences;
* Teaching subjects relating to your research (20% of your role).
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will need to have:
* A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent);
* Demonstrated expertise in sequential decision-making approaches;
* A strong track record of research publications and experience working independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams;
* Excellent communication skills and programming proficiency (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R).
