Inner West Council is hosting traineeships with GTO Ability Advocates Australia to recruit trainees in multiple core business areas as part of the Inclusive Traineeship Program 2026. This is a paid, 12‐month traineeship, designed for people with disability who are looking to start or restart their career in a structured, supportive office environment.
Eligibility: • People with disability aged 18 years and over • Individuals eligible for traineeships under relevant training and employment frameworks • Jobseekers residing within or able to access Inner West Sydney locations
About the role
Make a meaningful impact by supporting the GIS team of Inner West Council. In this role you will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of efficient, effective and innovative GIS support services to the council.
Responsibilities
* Assist in mapping and spatial data analysis.
* Support the delivery of high-quality analytical and operational support.
* Participate in on-the-job training and complete a Certificate III in Surveying and Spatial Information Services.
* Collaborate with the GIS team to improve processes, troubleshoot issues, and communicate findings.
Key skills, experience and qualifications
* Willingness to attain a Certificate III in Surveying and Spatial Information Services.
* Commitment to complete all required tasks.
* Initiative and innovative GIS approaches to problem diagnosis, resolution, and workflow improvement.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Effective communication skills with the public, co-workers, and management.
