Science Technician Position

We are seeking a skilled Science Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering practical lessons, setting up equipment, and supporting demonstrations.

The ideal candidate will have a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or an equivalent tertiary qualification, and possess strong communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to work independently under general guidance.

The role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to bring science to life across multiple laboratories and buildings on our vibrant school campus. You'll work closely with passionate teachers and staff to create exciting, safe, and well-organized learning experiences that inspire students every day.


Key Responsibilities

* Collaborate with science teachers to prepare and deliver practical lessons
* Safely manage, label and store chemicals and equipment in line with Department of Education safety procedures
* Keep our laboratories, prep rooms, and storage areas clean, secure, and organized across several school buildings
* Monitor stock levels, order consumables and equipment, and support inventory management and basic record keeping


Requirements

* Hold, or be working towards, a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or an equivalent tertiary qualification
* Work well independently under general guidance but also be confident collaborating and seeking input when needed
* Have a strong practical mindset with a safety-first approach, keen attention to detail, and a commitment to cleanliness and compliance
* Express yourself clearly, respectfully, and constructively, whether working one-on-one or as part of a team
* Be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with teachers, support staff, and students, ensuring tasks run smoothly across a busy department
* Confidently use basic IT systems and understand the use of MSDS, Chemwatch, and workplace health and safety protocols
