EDU Recruitment on
We are seeking passionate and qualified primary and secondary educators for casual teaching roles across a range of schools in Canberra.
We believe in the life changing impact of education. We are guided by the Future of Education Strategy, where our students are central to everything we do. The growing ACT public education system educates more than 50,000 students across 92 public schools, from early childhood to college.
All ACT public schools teach the Australian Curriculum (V9.0) from kindergarten to year 10. The Strong Foundations initiative strengthens our approach to literacy and numeracy education for better student outcomes and workloads for teachers and school leavers.
In ACT public schools, you can use your expertise as a casual primary teacher or subject specialist teacher in primary or secondary settings, including larger preschool to year 10 schools, years 7 to 10 high schools, and in colleges teaching years 11 and 12.
About you:
You have relevant and recognised tertiary qualifications.
Have a passion for teaching and education and support a student-centred approach to learning.
Have the ability to teach across a broad age and ability range.
Demonstrate knowledge and successful application of the Australian Curriculum.
Have positive classroom management skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
Proven experience establishing and fostering relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
Are committed to supporting the wellbeing of students.
You are not currently employed as a casual teacher by the ACT Education Directorate.
We offer:
Competitive pay and conditions
with the flexibility to set your own work days.
An
Enterprise Agreement that prioritises teacher wellbeing
and ensures casual teachers have access to professional learning, including programs directly related to the practice of relief teaching.
The right to disconnect
outside work hours and enjoy a better work/life balance.
Joining the ACT Education Directorate is not just a teaching position for now; it's a choice for your future. You'll receive benefits and entitlements that make us an employer of choice for teachers.
Eligibility requirements for employment
To be eligible to be employed as a teacher in an ACT public school, you must have:
Education qualifications
– Have an approved four-year full-time tertiary education qualification. Applicants with qualifications gained outside of Australia should complete a skills assessment by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) to confirm qualification requirements and English language proficiency to teach in Australian schools.
Teacher registration
– Hold a valid approval to teach with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI).
Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration
– Have a valid ACT WWVP.
Approved working status
– Be an Australian citizen and/or be permanent resident and/or hold a valid working visa.
How to apply

outlining your teaching experience and qualifications.
Evidence of your teacher registration
or, if currently studying, evidence of your enrolment in an accredited initial teacher education course.
