About the role
The Manager, Capital Budget Reporting plays a key leadership role in overseeing the department's capital budget analysis, forecasting and reporting. This role is responsible for ensuring capital reporting aligns with best practice, the department's governance frameworks, and requirements set by NSW Treasury and other external stakeholders.
Working closely with finance teams, divisions and regional offices, you will lead the development and implementation of consistent processes, timelines and approaches for capital financial forecasting and reporting. You will provide a department-wide view of capital forecasts, identify risks and issues, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve them.
The role is part of a newly created centralised Capital Services function and will help lead the capability uplift and transformation of capital reporting processes across the department.

About you
We are looking for an experienced finance professional with strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, ideally within a complex or government environment.
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
* Strong financial analysis, forecasting and reporting capability
* Experience working with complex budget processes and governance frameworks
* Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
* The ability to identify financial risks and issues and work proactively to resolve them
* Experience leading teams and fostering a positive, high-performing culture
* The ability to adapt and deliver in a changing environment, particularly during process or system reform
* Highly organised and able to balance competing priorities, respond to complex queries and deliver accurate advice within tight timeframes
Key Knowledge and Experience
* Demonstrated experience in a large complex organisation in Capital budget/management accounting related roles
* Demonstrated experience providing commercially focused astute financial commentary for senior stakeholders
* Demonstrated experience in financial acumen capability uplift, including evidence of positive improvements made across organisations
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
* Degree in accounting or finance discipline and eligibility for membership of a recognised professional association or demonstrated relevant and successful workplace experience
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
