Primary objective
Provide high level operational and administrative support to School Operations East Arnhem in the areas of communication,
compliance, travel, procurement and finance to support schools in East Arnhem.
Context statement
School Operations provides operational advice and services to government schools, tailored to their needs and focused on
supporting their improvement agenda. School Operations ensures the implementation of NT and Commonwealth
Government policies and department strategic priorities in NT Government schools. The position works within a small
collaborative team based in Nhulunbuy that supports the East Arnhem region and contributes to the priorities and strategic
direction of the Department of Education and Training.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide support for financial administration services including procurement of goods and services, reconciliation and
account payments in accordance with the Financial Guidelines, Delegations and agency practices.
2. Provide administrative support to the Operations Officer and Director School Operations, to ensure timely and accurate
advice and support is provided to schools in the region.
3. Support the Travel and Relocations Coordinator with travel and relocations in accordance with the NTG Policy,
Conditions of Employment and Public Sector Employment and Management Act and Bylaws.
4. Undertake projects to support continuous improvement of the agency.
5. Other duties as delegated by line management.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Well-developed interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills in a client focused environment, including the
ability to develop professional relationships with clients, both internal and external, and from a diverse range of cultural
backgrounds, and work collaboratively in the School Operations team to achieve results as an effective unit.
1. Ability to monitor own performance and organise work against expected outcomes, meet deadlines and utilise initiative
whilst in a busy work environment without supervision and as part of a team.
1. Computer literacy skills, including the effective use of various office applications such as databases and spreadsheets.
2. Ability to work adaptively in a team and maintain confidentiality and a high standard of personal integrity when dealing
with sensitive matters.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the policies, procedures and operations of the Department of Education and Training or ability to learn
these in a timely manner.
Further information
Overnight travel may be required, staying in a range of accommodation.
Experience driving a 4WD (or capacity to obtain) may be required.
The successful applicant must hold a current Working with Children Clearance Notice (Ochre Card) or the ability to obtain.
