In-House Architect – Construction Industry Western Sydney | Competitive Salary (Based on Experience) | Full-Time, Office-Based
About Us We are a leading construction company based in Western Sydney, delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across New South Wales. With a strong pipeline of developments, we are seeking a talented In-House Architect to join our team and ensure our projects meet both design excellence and NSW compliance standards.
The Role This is a full-time, office-based position located in Western Sydney, with the convenience of onsite parking. As our In-House Architect, you will work closely with the builder, project manager, and site managers to design, plan, and oversee architectural aspects of construction projects. You'll ensure all designs comply with NSW legislation and industry standards while delivering innovative and practical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver architectural designs for residential and commercial projects in NSW
* Prepare drawings, plans, and documentation in compliance with the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and relevant Australian Standards
* Ensure designs meet NSW planning regulations, including local council Development Control Plans (DCPs) and State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs)
* Incorporate sustainability requirements such as BASIX and consider NABERS/Green Star principles where applicable
* Liaise with local councils, certifiers, and consultants to secure approvals and permits
* Collaborate with the builder, project manager, and site managers to ensure design intent is achieved on-site
* Provide input on materials, finishes, and sustainable design practices
* Oversee design changes and ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle
About You We're looking for a creative, detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of NSW-specific requirements. Ideally, you will have:
* Formal qualifications such as:
* Bachelor or Master of Architecture (registered with the NSW Architects Registration Board)
* OR a Diploma of Building Design (Architectural)
* OR a Certificate IV in Residential Drafting or similar nationally recognised qualification
* Minimum 5 years' experience in architectural design within the NSW construction industry using complying developing codes
* Strong knowledge of NSW building codes, planning regulations, and compliance requirements
* Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, or similar)
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* A passion for innovative and sustainable design
