Seeking a competent and passionate Scientist to join our friendly team of Health Professionals. The Senior Scientist will perform a diverse range of complex and highly specialised diagnostic and therapeutic testing as part of a state-wide tertiary referral Chemical Pathology Laboratory Service. The Unit provides testing for newborn screening services, therapeutic drug monitoring and toxicology, trace element analysis, metabolic disease profiling, steroid hormones, vitamins, porphyrins and biogenic amine analysis. Key competencies (role specific criteria) You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘Your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following: Knowledge of Chemical Pathology testing and its role in clinical medicine.Knowledge, skills and expertise in analytical methods and instruments relevant to chemical Knowledge, skills and expertise in the validation and clinical interpretation of results in chemical pathology. Knowledge of Pathology testing and its diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring role in disease and health. Significant experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas - training, education, quality or troubleshooting in a clinical chemistry laboratory. Proven ability to deliver projects within allotted timeframe and be self-driven Proven ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in problem solving and innovative solutions. Proven track record of professional development Proven ability to participate in a team of professional staff in the delivery of a high quality testing service Good communication and negotiation skills with staff at all levels in a large organisation. Qualifications, registrations and other requirements The successful applicant must hold a Bachelor of Science degree, or an equivalent qualification Professional association membership is desirable but not essential (e.g. AACB, AIMS) Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.
