Reporting to the Field Supervisor, you will be responsible for the maintenance and commissioning of primary, secondary, and communications equipment in distribution, zone and sub-transmission substations and networks to ensure the safety, reliability, sustainability, and affordability for our customers and network assets.

What you'll be doing
As the Telecontrol Technician, you will specialise in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of primary, secondary and communication systems, which typically include monitoring and control, in substations and power networks. These technicians ensure that electrical infrastructure operates safely and efficiently by working with relays, circuit breakers, transformers, and communication systems.

Your key responsibilities will include:
Safely undertake work to approved standards and procedures, always placing safety first.
Install, configure, test, and maintain automation and control systems.
Assist with commissioning of SCADA, HMIs, and other automation platforms.
Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on automated systems.
Follow electrical and automation schematics and technical drawings.
Support documentation, reporting and compliance requirements.
Collaborate with engineering, planning, and project teams.
Lead and coordinate work groups on‑site where required.
Provide technical guidance and on‑the‑job supervision to colleagues.
Participate in project planning and stakeholder coordination.
Follow Ausgrid's safety, environmental, and operational systems and procedures.
What you bring to the role

Qualified in a relevant electrical trade.
Holds a Class C drivers' licence.
Holds a WH&S WorkCover – General Induction.

Additional desirable skills and qualifications in:
Advanced Trade Technician Course (or equivalent).
Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
ACMA Communications Cabling Licence.
Experience in commissioning and maintenance of Scada systems or automation systems.
Optical fibre splicing experience.
