About the role:
Are you passionate about creating inclusive communities where everyone feels they belong? MCCGC is looking for a dynamic and people-focused Senior Community Development Officer to help bring our strategic vision to life, supporting intercultural connectedness and empowering people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to thrive socially and economically.
As a Senior Community Development Officer, you will be working closely with the Team Leader Community Development and other teams to plan and deliver impactful programs, workshops, and events. Building strong relationships with community members, leaders, and stakeholders is vital to ensure everyone has a voice and access to opportunities.

What will you do:
* Promote cultural diversity by helping local services and networks become more inclusive of people from different cultural and language backgrounds.
* Foster and maintain relationships with community leaders, service providers, government, research, and operational partners.
* Lead and contribute to the development of project reports, ensuring adherence to contractual and regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate records related to all undertaken projects.
* Oversee daily operations and help your team stay aligned with the goals of the Community Development program.
* Research opportunities for funding to contribute to existing or develop new initiatives.
* Encourage collaboration by participating in networks, attending working groups, and community events.
* Assist in the logistical planning, setup, and execution of events and activities to ensure their smooth operation.
* Maintain and develop regular connections with diverse local community leaders to identify emerging needs and appropriate responses, and support inclusion of culturally diverse communities in local disaster management efforts through coordinated engagement.
* Support activities that reflect real community needs and align with best practices.
* Better equip internal staff and mainstream services with cultural information when working with multicultural clients via training workshops and the Gold Coast Multicultural Network.
* Empower individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds to confidently access and navigate local services.
About you:
The successful candidate will have:
* Relevant tertiary qualification: Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Engagement, Social Science, Education, Training, relevant discipline, or a minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar position
* Eligible to work in Queensland, Australia
* Must hold a current National Police Certificate and Driver's License, or has the ability to obtain one
* Understanding of issues relating to emerging Multicultural communities, children, young people, families, and service requirements in accessing services
* Demonstrated knowledge of family support and services to families and youth from CALD backgrounds
* Knowledge of relevant government and non-government agencies and their services on the Gold Coast, and how to refer/connect clients
* Communication skills (both written and oral)
* Experience in running workshops and information sessions with Multicultural communities
* Computer literacy. Specifically, MS Office and accurate data entry skills
