About the Office
The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two national schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business. The National School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney. The School of Arts and Sciences delivers a practical, ethical and industry-focused education in diverse areas of study such as the liberal arts, communications and media, counselling and science, with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer.
About the role
The position collaborates with academic and professional staff in a challenging and competitive environment to find suitable and varied placements for a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate counselling students in a range of counselling contexts including trauma, addiction, family, relationship, children and adolescent counselling, clinical and other types of counselling applied work. Alongside the Faculty’s Work Integrated Learning and Student Experience Manager, the position develops prospective placement opportunities and relationships with counselling industry partners, develops new opportunities and cultivates and manages continuing relationships with industry stakeholders, as well as overseeing the supervision of students on placement, and completing their mid- and end-of-semester reviews .
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate existing University and agency partnerships and secure and develop placement opportunities with counselling industry partners.
* Assist undergraduate and postgraduate counselling students to find and succeed in appropriate and rewarding placements in a range of counselling contexts.
* Oversee the supervision of students on placements.
* Complete mid- and end-of-semester reviews of students on placement.
* Effectively liaise with WIL Faculty staff, academic staff, clinical supervisors and the program coordinator on matters pertaining to clinical placements.
* Maintain accurate record keeping of placement agreements, student contracts, requisite police /health /WWC checks appropriate to the placement, communication of Placement Handbook protocols and placement agency responsibilities.
* As a part of work Integrated Learning team assist students with their placements as part of their academic program, which also include coordination of student fieldwork/practicum experiences.
Qualifications, skills & experience
* A Degree qualification with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
* Strong data and records management with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proven operational, organisational and administrative experience in a busy, fluid environment (higher education experience highly regarded)
