Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Medical Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy medical practice. Prior experience in medical reception or administration is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly manner.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls, manage appointment bookings, and handle patient enquiries.
- Process patient registrations, update records, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Manage billings, Medicare claims, and EFTPOS transactions.
- Assist doctors and nurses with administrative tasks as required.
- Ensure the reception area is tidy, organised, and welcoming.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails, and faxes.
- Follow clinic policies, procedures, and infection control guidelines.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in using computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional presentation and a friendly, caring attitude.
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with Best Practice or similar medical software.
- Knowledge of Medicare billing processes.
