The Market Operations Division of Macquarie Bank is looking to appoint an Operations Analyst to join the Commodity Markets & Finance, Support Team in Sydney.
The team manages all post-execution trade lifecycle processes across global financial Metals, Agriculture, Commodity Investor Products, Oil, Power, Gas and Emissions markets and provides client service to internal and external clients of the Commodities and Financing Markets Division. The team also manages the Futures matchouts and reconciliations for each business within the bank, ensuring our trade positions reconcile back to those of the Global Exchanges / Futures Clearing.
In this role responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Verification of transactions across all commodities
- Settlement of transactions across all commodities
- Running daily reconciliations to ensure our trade positions match those at each of the Global Exchanges
- Conducting post-trade investigations, working closely with the trading desks, Futures Clearing and other internal groups to ensure resolution
- Reviewing daily reconciliations to ensure Trade, Inventory and Nostro positions are accurate
- Compiling and submitting monthly Regulatory Reports to internal stakeholders
- Building relationships with various groups within the Bank, including Traders, Credit, Legal, Finance, Technology and other support divisions
- Working on strategic and tactical projects within Operations and with our business partners.
- Producing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures
- Have at least 3-5 years' experience within commodity or financial markets
- Have exposure to Futures markets would be advantageous
- Have familiarity with SWIFT payment messaging types would be advantageous but not essential
- Have an understanding of the importance of controls & procedures
- Have high accuracy rates and a high standard of attention to detail
- Have strong problem-solving skills and the aptitude to learn new system flows
- Have excellent organisational, communication and prioritisation skill
- Be flexible to cover staff absences, busy settlement periods and work public holidays as required
- Work well in a team environment
The following experience/skill-set would be valuable for this role:
- At least 3-5 years prior experience at an Investment Bank or Clearing House
- Working knowledge of trade bookings in Risk Management systems
- Familiarity with Data Analytics and utilising Data to build business cases
- Client Service for internal and external clients in the Financial Services industry
