About The Role
As Pathology Courier, you will be responsible for the picking‐up and transportation of pathology samples, specimens, blood/blood products, X‐rays, and vaccines. This may involve visiting medical centres, collection centres, nursing homes, hospitals, and veterinary surgeries for delivery to laboratories in various locations. You will be ensuring a safe and efficient process as you manage 30+ stops per day, playing a crucial part in delivering quality health services to the people in our communities.
Key Responsibilities
* Pick‐up and delivery of pathology samples, specimens, blood/blood products, X‐rays, vaccines and clinical waste to and from referring customers.
* Liaise between referring medical practitioners and the medical liaison officer regarding store orders.
* Prepare and deliver reports and manage stock control in the main laboratory.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and integrity.
* Follow operating procedures to complete correct specimen coding documentation.
* Comply with policies and procedures, work health and safety procedures, and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications
* Valid open Australian driver's licence with an excellent driving record.
* Ability to work various shifts, including rostered weekends and public holidays.
* Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
* Excellent time‐management skills, capable of juggling up to 30 stops per day.
* Physical capability to handle equipment weighing regularly up to 10 kg‐15 kg.
* Ability to follow instructions and use initiative to make sound decisions.
* Previous courier experience is considered highly advantageous.
* Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work.
