The Opportunity
This is your chance to lead a dedicated team that protects the people, assets and information that keep South Australia moving. As the Unit Manager, Security Operations, you'll be at the centre of our Security Hub—guiding real-time operations, strengthening incident response, and shaping how the Department manages and mitigates risk.
You'll influence major security decisions, work closely with key partners including PSSB and external providers, and drive improvements that make our organisation safer and more resilient. About You
You're an experienced security leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. You bring proven capability in managing complex security operations, using incident-management and video systems confidently, and turning insights into clear, practical procedures.
You think strategically, act with urgency, and deliver solutions that strengthen safety and mitigate risk. With strong communication and relationship-building skills, you work effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage third-party providers with confidence. Professional, discreet and calm under pressure, you set high standards and help others meet them.
Licences
* Current Driver's licence is essential.
Special Conditions
* A Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance is required for this position.
* A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
* A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, which must be renewed every five years before expiry. Some intra / interstate travel may be required.
* The role may require work outside of standard hours to accommodate periodic on-call responsibilities. During designated on-call periods, the appointee is expected to remain contactable at all times, be fit to drive, and respond promptly to emergency notifications, including reporting to the Security Operations Hub if required.
