The Electrical Engineer is accountable for the design and development of Electrical systems and/or equipment in accordance with contractual and company requirements to achieve the required business performance.
The role mentors junior members of the Power and Systems team and may involve occasional travel to remote radar sites to support technical scoping activities and supervision of installation works.About the Opportunity2x Electrical Engineers are sought to join the team within the JORN project.
Occasional travel to remote Radar Sites will be required to support technical scoping activities and supervision of installation works.Key responsibilitiesDevelopment and review of Electrical Engineering design documentationProgression and management of Electrical Engineering projects from inception to incorporationElectrical Engineering technical projects cover (not exhaustive): High Voltage and Low Voltage system design, Hazardous Areas assessment and design, PLC program and design, Instrumentation and Control design, EMI testing, Generator control system design, Solar and battery energy storage systems design, site electrical assessments, earthing system design and testing, condition-based monitoring, arc flash assessments, UPS designManagement and coordination of external design projectsDevelopment of labour and material estimates (BOE)Develop strong relationships with site-based and ad-hoc project teamsComplete assigned JORN sustainment engineering changes in accordance with design change policies and participate in mandated system reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR)Complete all allocated work per the Power and Systems 2 Year PlanReport progress on Engineering Change, S&Q and MPAAHS to the Power and Systems Team Lead weeklyAssist in fault diagnosis for system outage events; conduct system safety assessmentsAttend supervision with Team Lead for career goals and professional development; engage in continuous training to support CPDAssist in analysis of system obsolescence risks and recommended solutions; assist ILS team with JORN sustainment assessmentsContribute to team planning, risk management, product safety, quality and SHEDevelop electrical knowledge of the JORN system and subsystems; comply with system security requirementsWork towards and achieve Certified Practising Engineer (CPEng) through Engineers Australia (assistance provided by BAE)Pursue appropriate Technical Authority delegations within the engineering disciplineParticipate in peer reviews for JORN sustainment artefacts; mentor new and junior engineersDevelop strong relationships with broader project team including remote site personnel, maintainers, operators and customersAny other task as needed to progress engineering changes through the workflowQualifications and requirementsBackground in RF or related technologiesUnderstanding of electrical and electronic conceptsTertiary qualifications in Electrical and Electronic EngineeringBackground in defence practices highly desiredUnderstanding of requirements analysis, design, verification and systems engineering principlesExperience in a Technical Regulatory Framework (e.g., TAMM, TRAMM, NTRF)Experience developing detailed engineering work packagesExperience working in classified environmentsAbout youWe hire for potential.
