About the Role
The Practice Manager will support the delivery of quality guardianship services to our customers, with the aim of achieving the best possible outcomes for people who are not able to make decisions themselves. This is achieved through ensuring the NSW Public Guardian Division and wider NSW Trustee and Guardian Divisions can access up-to-date and relevant guardianship knowledge and information.
The Practice Manager understands the key issues across sectors that impact guardianship and its effect on people with challenged decision-making capacity and supports the NSW Public Guardian's advocacy for them. Key to the role is the ability to effectively consult with guardianship teams to continually review and improve guardianship practices, protocols and policy.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the development of complex policies, guidelines and other documents at organisational level. They will also have a demonstrated understanding of guardianship practice, advocacy and other services accessed by people with vulnerability. Strong strategic thinking, management and administrative skills are essential, as well as proven ability to support the delivery of services in a complex customer environment.
Strong leadership and managerial skills, including stakeholder engagement and collaboration, are also required. The ability to coordinate and oversee the effectiveness of policies and procedures relating to guardianship is crucial, as is proficiency in identifying gaps and developing solutions for policy development, updates and implementation. Lived experience will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate will work closely with the NSW Public Guardian, collaborating with various stakeholders to protect and promote the rights of vulnerable individuals. They will provide guidance and support to private and enduring guardians, service providers and the wider community.
The role involves working with four main units: Practice and Strategy, Service Delivery, Establishment and Quality Assurance and Legal. The organisation is adopting innovative practices, including new learning models, governance, technology and training. It is also exploring Supported Decision Making in response to future law reforms.
