About Us
Monash House Research Centre is a highly collaborative clinical trials unit within Monash House Private Hospital. We conduct Phase I–IV studies across multiple therapeutic areas, including Alzheimer's disease and related neurodegenerative conditions. We are expanding our neurodegenerative portfolio and seeking a dedicated clinician-researcher to lead this growth.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a medical practitioner to join our team as a Principal Investigator on a sessional basis, with the view to leading future neurodegenerative studies at Monash House Research Centre. This role is ideal for a neurologist, geriatrician, or physician with a demonstrated interest in dementia and cognitive disorders who wishes to contribute to industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials in a supportive, site-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as Principal Investigator on Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative trials undertaken at Monash House Research Centre, performing PI oversight and associated delegated trial activities in line with ICH-GCP and the approved protocol.
* Conduct clinical assessments, including physical and neurological examinations, cognitive assessments, and safety reviews.
* Review inclusion/exclusion criteria, conduct screening visits and confirm participant eligibility,
* Oversee management of adverse events, concomitant medications and ensuring appropriate medical follow-up and documentation.
* Participate in investigator meetings, site initiation visits, and safety/data reviews as required by sponsors and CROs.
* Provide clinical oversight and support to the research coordinators, contributing to high-quality data and whole patient care for research participants.
* For suitable future studies, act as Principal Investigator assuming overall responsibility for the conduct of the trial at site, including oversight of delegation, safety, and protocol compliance.
Essential Criteria
* Prior experience as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator on industry-sponsored clinical trials (cognitive/neurology/geriatric or related therapeutic area) required.
* Registered medical practitioner with unrestricted AHPRA registration.
* Fellowship in Neurology or Geriatric Medicine (FRACP or equivalent), with demonstrated interest and experience in neurodegenerative adult cognitive disorders.
* Knowledge of ICH-GCP and Australian clinical trial governance requirements.
* Approachable communicator with collaborative approach to working with trial coordinators, raters, and external sponsors/CROs.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience with trial-related imaging (MRI, PET) and biomarker-driven protocols.
* Experience overseeing sub-investigators in a research setting.
Time Commitment & Remuneration
* Casual/sessional engagement, with flexible, pre-planned sessions based on study visit schedules and safety review requirements.
* Competitive sessional rates commensurate with experience, with potential for increased involvement as the neurodegenerative portfolio grows.
