Road And Drain Maintenance Officer for Local Council - Northern Suburbs

Your new role will involve carrying out maintenance and improvement works in a safe, efficient and effective manner, and in accordance with established work practices, so as to ensure that the roads are kept in a well maintained condition.
**Your new role**
This position sits within the Road and Drain Maintenance unit, within the Infrastructure Department of the Operations and Infrastructure Directorate, which is responsible for the delivery of services to the community and ensuring adequate maintenance of the existing road and drainage infrastructure.
The position will provide road and drainage works in accordance with the programmed maintenance of the road and roadside network within the Shire focusing on plant operation, traffic control, general labouring, road and drainage maintenance, litter and dumped rubbish collection, hauling materials and other tasks as directed by the Team Leader Sealed Roads Maintenance / Team Leader Unsealed Roads Maintenance.
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Knowledge and experience in road and drainage maintenance techniques, plant and equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in the maintenance of sealed and unsealed road surface and footpath networks.
- Demonstrated experience concreting footpath bays and other concrete maintenance works.
- Demonstrated experience in the collection of litter and dumped rubbish
- Competency in the operation of plant and equipment relevant to roadside and maintenance activities.
- Understanding and experience in Occupational Health and Safety and the provision of a safe workplace.
- Understanding of roadside maintenance activities in a way to minimise environmental impact.
