The role
Associate Director – Vertical Transportation
Location: Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth. Role can be hybrid.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of vertical transportation projects across all stages of design and construction, providing specialist expertise in lift, escalator and moving walk systems while ensuring quality, compliance and performance outcomes.
- Drive the development of innovative and efficient vertical transportation solutions through passenger traffic analysis, lift simulation modelling and strategic planning for complex buildings and infrastructure projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, architects, contractors and asset owners, acting as a trusted advisor and contributing to business development, project pursuits and market growth opportunities.
- Provide leadership across asset management, modernisation and advisory services, including condition assessments, technical due diligence and portfolio‐wide improvement strategies.
- Mentor and develop team members while contributing to project planning, commercial management and the continued growth of AECOM's Building Engineering business.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in engineering, building services, electrical or mechanical disciplines, or equivalent industry experience. CPEng or eligibility for NER highly regarded.
- Significant experience within the vertical transportation industry, ideally gained across the Australian market, with a proven track record delivering complex building and infrastructure projects in a senior consulting, engineering or leadership capacity.
- Strong technical expertise in the planning, design, specification and assessment of lift, escalator and moving walk systems, supported by experience undertaking or reviewing passenger traffic analysis and lift simulation modelling using Elevate or equivalent software platforms.
- Sound understanding of relevant Australian standards, codes and industry guidelines, including AS 1735, AS 3000, the National Construction Code and Property Council of Australia recommendations.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring others and fostering technical excellence within high‐performing teams.
Australian Citizenship is highly regarded.
