About The Opportunity
As the Clinical Midwifery unit manager (MUM), you will be responsible and provide overall leadership and operational management of the unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based, woman-centred care. The role oversees care coordination, workforce leadership and resource management while fostering a positive, collaborative team culture that supports women, babies and families across pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
Coordination Of Patient Services
As the Clinical Midwifery Unit Manager, you will:
Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to meet women’s clinical and psychosocial needs, facilitate smooth discharge and continuity of care, and oversee support services such as catering and transport.
Unit Management
Ensure compliance with policies, maintain a safe clinical environment, and manage equipment, stock and cleaning to support efficient operations.
Staff Management And Leadership
Provide direction, supervision and leadership of midwifery and nursing staff, manage rostering and skill mix, support recruitment and professional development, and lead practice improvements based on evidence and women’s needs.

About You
Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the NMBA via AHPRADemonstrated senior midwifery experience with leadership and management capabilityProven ability to manage workforce, financial and physical resources effectivelyStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage women, families and multidisciplinary teamsExperience managing conflict, performance and change in a professional mannerStrong critical thinking and decision-making skillsDemonstrated commitment to quality improvement, risk management and work health and safety
