Your new company
This Perth-based developer and construction company, backed by Chinese ownership, is rapidly expanding its footprint in the residential market with a strong pipeline of townhouse projects south of the river. With 200–300 dwellings planned, they are seeking a skilled and proactive Building Surveyor to support compliance, approvals, and quality assurance across their developments. Mandarin or Chinese language skills are highly desirable to support seamless communication with internal stakeholders.
Your new role
As the Building Surveyor, you will play a key role in ensuring all townhouse developments meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards. You’ll work closely with project managers, site teams, and external consultants to oversee building approvals and compliance throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess building plans for compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC) and WA building regulations.- Coordinate and manage building approvals, certifications, and inspections.
- Liaise with local councils, certifiers, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely approvals.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor construction quality and compliance.
- Provide technical advice to internal teams on building codes, standards, and best practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for all compliance-related activities.
- Assist in resolving non-compliance issues and support rectification processes.
- Communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders and contractors (if applicable).
What you'll need to succeed
- Building Surveying qualification
- Robust knowledge of the NCC, Building Act 2011 (WA), and relevant local planning schemes.
- Experience working on residential developments, ideally townhouses or medium-density housing
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Mandarin or Chinese language skills highly regarded but not essential
