Primary School Librarian (Bilingual French & English)

Permanent part‐time position starting ASAP - 25 hours per week - Monday: 12.30 to 3.30pm / Tues, Wedn, Thu: 9am to 3.30pm / Friday: 9am to 1pm
The role is central to nurturing a love of reading, curiosity, and cultural discovery among our students, while supporting the pedagogical objectives of French education.
Working closely on a day‐to‐day basis with the Primary School Librarian Lead, the Primary School Librarian plays a key educational role within the school, contributing to both teaching and community life.
Pedagogy & Student Engagement
* Foster a love of reading and literature from an early age
* Design engaging learning experiences around books, storytelling, research, and literature
* Encourage curiosity, imagination, critical thinking, and independent learning
* Organise literary and cultural events throughout the year (e.g. Book Week, author visits, reading challenges, storytelling sessions, poetry events, exhibitions)
* Support the French curriculum through carefully selected literary and documentary resources
* Guide students in choosing age‐appropriate, enriching reading materials
* Support teachers with pedagogical resources and cross‐curricular projects linked to literature and culture
* Assist students in developing research and information literacy skills
* Participate in pedagogical meetings as required
Library & Collection Management
* Maintain a welcoming, organised, and inspiring Library environment
* Develop and manage literary and documentary collections for Primary students
* Oversee book loans, returns, and circulation procedures
* Promote new resources through displays, presentations, and themed initiatives
* Establish and communicate clear Library expectations and procedures
Community & School Life
* Contribute positively to the life of the Primary School community
* Build warm, respectful relationships with students, families, and staff
* Support school events and community initiatives
* Promote an inclusive culture where creativity, kindness, and collaboration are valued
Administration & Operations
* Maintain accurate Library records and documentation
* Ensure secure storage and archiving of documents in line with school procedures
* Stay informed about contemporary educational and library practices
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
* Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as directed by the Principal
