We are currently seeking to appoint a Principal Developer to oversee development of a core Revenue NSW application ecosystem.
In this role, you will lead and guide developers while also directly contributing to the development of Revenue's Fines & Fees applications as they modernise to take advantage of cloud-native capabilities.
We are proud of our diverse and regional team and welcome flexible working. Regular travel may be required to engage with the team in Parramatta and our partners.
About you:
As the Principal member of the development team, you will:
* Be responsible to lead software engineers in a squad.
* Be involved in design, development, testing and support of Revenue NSW fines application, with a strong experience in PHP development. Overdue fines application is used to manage fines issued by different government agencies.
* Be a hands-on developer while supporting team members and ensuring that delivered solutions meet the business needs and adhere to coding, quality and design standards.
* Have demonstrated experience in coaching and providing guidance and training to less experienced IT professionals.
* Promote and support agile / scrum development practices.
* Be strong in forming collaborative relationships with business partners, professional stakeholders, 3rd party vendors and other team members.
* Have excellent communication skills and be able to manage customer expectations
Skills and Experience Required:
* Strong understanding of microservice architecture, REST APIs
* Ability to write and tune SQL queries for Postgres
* Exposure to Docker and container concepts and components
* Experience in working with Agile environment (Scrum Framework)
* PHP development in SVN, Git
* PHP Migration experience preferred (7.3 to 8.x)
* AWS containerisation Experience preferred
* Experience with Zend Framework and yii2 preferred but not essential
To be successful in the role you must demonstrate:
* Migration experience in PHP is desirable.
* Strong experience in AWS containerisation & migration
* Experience in continuous delivery and deployment pipeline is desirable.
