Active Geelong is a small, not-for-profit health promotion charity focused on encouraging community participation in accessible and affordable physical activities.
Active Geelong is a cooperative project that brings together leading businesses, doctors, researchers and individuals to address physical activity in the Geelong region.
We are seeking a proactive and organized health promotion professional for the role of Active Geelong Coordinator.
This contractor role will work closely with the Active Geelong Chair, Executive, and Board to support the organisation's growth and future initiatives.
Responsibilities include leadership, stakeholder engagement, health promotion, event and program management, strategic planning, and innovation.
The role requires engaging with diverse sectors such as health, sports, education, business, and local government.
Ideal candidates will have a tertiary qualification in health promotion, education, or physical activity, alongside strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders and Active Geelong partners and supporters
- Support the planning of major events including Active Geelong Showcase, Serenity in the Stadium, and Active Geelong Business Breakfast
- Lead the ACTIVATE Your Workplace initiative for active workplaces
- Support the Active Geelong Ambassadors Program
- Maintain the Active Geelong website (with agency support)
- Manage social media campaigns, strategy, and PR in collaboration with our communications agency
- Assist in developing and supporting new initiatives in alignment with Active Geelong’s mission including supporting Physical Activity projects in disadvantaged areas
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in health promotion, exercise physiology, education, or communications
- Relevant experience in health promotion, non-profit organizations, or similar fields
- Expertise in stakeholder engagement, event coordination, and project management
- High-level communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently
- Proficiency in technology, including online meetings, social media, and website maintenance
- Strategic thinking and innovation in program development
