About the Role
The Indigenous Education Liaison Officer plays a pivotal role in fostering connections between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families, the school community, and educational institutions.
This position provides comprehensive cultural, educational, and pastoral support to ensure every Indigenous student has the opportunity to excel academically and personally.
Key responsibilities include:
* Fostering Strong Partnerships with First Nations Families
* Supporting the development and implementation of Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs)
* Promoting and celebrating Aboriginal culture across the whole school
* Assisting with literacy and numeracy support for Aboriginal students
* Encouraging regular attendance, supporting transitions, and exploring career pathways with students
* Providing pastoral care, encouragement, and guidance to Aboriginal students
* Collaborating with teachers and school leaders to ensure culturally inclusive learning experiences
About You
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
* Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage
* A strong commitment to education and social justice
* Sound skills in literacy and numeracy to assist students
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff to support Indigenous students
* Experience in engaging families and community
* Knowledge of educational issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
* Strong connections with the local Aboriginal community
* A commitment to promoting and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within the school
