Senior Tax Lawyer The Role Cooper Grace Ward is excited to be extending an opportunity for a senior Tax Lawyer to join our leading tax and tax disputes team within the Commercial and Private Client workgroup. You will have the opportunity to assist clients with a broad range of GST, tax and revenue matters by providing practical advice and managing disputes with the Australian Tax Office and Queensland Revenue Office. Your contribution will be recognised and rewarded with career progression encouraged and supported under the mentorship of industry‑recognised senior leadership.
Variety of work includes:
Advising on a range of GST, tax, and revenue matters
Objecting to ATO and QRO assessments for tax and penalties
Assisting clients with responding to ATO and QRO reviews and audits
Preparing direct and indirect tax sharing agreements, employee share schemes, facility agreements and agreements with service entities
Managing appeals of ATO and QRO decisions in the AAT, QCAT, Federal and Supreme Court
Preparing commercial transaction documents and commercial agreements including share sale agreements, company constitutions and trust deeds
Requirements
3+ years PAE with previous experience in tax law
Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
A keen eye for detail and the ability to consistently produce accurate, high quality work
Dedication to the excellence and delivery of outstanding client service
A genuine interest in Tax Law
Desire to strengthen and build client relationships to continually contribute to the growth and success of the firm
Ability to work autonomously and assist with providing guidance to junior team members
